* A new vaccine is being
tried out as part of the
Malaria Vaccine Initiative.
* The
World Resources Inistitute (a well respected US think tank) has launched a major report in collaboration with the
UN Development Programme,
UN Environment Programme +
World Bank entitled
A Guide to World Resources: Decisions for the Earth: Balance, Voice + Power.
It's chief recommendations are
better governance + greater accountability in environmental decision making.
* In separate reports,
Amnesty International and
Human Rights Watch have called for the release of all
prisoners of conscience in Indonesia and for the repeal of legislation used to prosecute and imprison activists engaged in peaceful political expression.
