Mary Robinson the former
President of Ireland (1990 -1997) and
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has now become the Director of
The Ethical Globalization Initiative.
This initiative aims "to develop multi-disciplinary thought + action aimed at
integrating human rights standards into specific recommendations for governance and policy-making at the global level and through dialogue and specific activities at the local and national level" and "to support civil society, local and national governments, and sub-regional and regional networks committed to
developing human rights capacities through the broad framework of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD).
