:: Rich nations are failing the world's poor ::
The latest
Human Development Report has just been released by the
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
It says that if existing trends persist it will take some African countries until
2165 to achieve the
Millennium Development Goals set by the world's leaders for
2015!
The BBC has produced a
very good summary of the report which includes some shocking statistics about the amount of
aid given by the EU to the average African (
$8) and the amount given in subsidies by the
EU to the average cow (
$913)...
