Despite opposition from
Japan, Norway + Iceland the latest meeting of the
International Whaling Commission has voted to
offer whales enhanced protection from
over-fishing, pollution + climate change.
This vote follows a recent report which stated that
fishing nets accidentally kill 800 whales, dolphins + porpoises a day (or 300,000 per year).
