With much of the UK affected by flood alerts and more rain and snow on the way, Friends of the Earth have warned that the UK should expect more of the same as a result of man-made climate change...

According to the UK Climate Impacts Programme records show that global temperature has risen by about 0.6°C since the beginning of the 20th century, with about 0.4°C of this warming occuring since the 1970s (Figure 1).

Globally, 1998 was the warmest on record, and 2001 was the third warmest. The 1990s were also the warmest decade in the last 100 years, and it is likely that the last 100 years represented the warmest century in the last millennium...

If you still need convincing that climate change can at least be partially attributed to human activities since the industrial revolution it is well worth taking a look at the UKCIP's graphs which show trends in UK temperatures since records began...
